A fire broke out in a building in Providence Thursday night. Firefighters responded to Broad Street at about 8 p.m. Fire officials said the fire started in the basement of the building, which is home to a consulting firm, and then it spread to the first and second floors. People who were inside were able to get out unharmed. It took firefighters roughly 20 minutes to knock down the fire. The building sustained heavy damage inside from smoke and water. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
