From one aide of the city to the other, NBC 10 News followed a team of two Providence firefighters on Wednesday to homes where they administered the COVID-19 shot.
Capt. Tom Stegnicki and firefighter Renato Alarcon picked up the Johnson and Johnson vaccines Wednesday morning.
"Our vaccine stays in the cooler here and then when we're ready to go to the next house, we draw up the vaccines for the next dose because they have to be out of the freezer for about 15 minutes before we give them," Stegnicki explained.
People are signed up for the system through Providence Emergency Management Agency. On Wednesday, 15 people were vaccinated in their homes. "People that are unable to drive, don't have vehicles, or access to get to the vaccination clinics, so this is great that we're able to do this for them," Stegnicki said.
