Authorities Wednesday identified a man and woman in their 60s who died after a sailboat they were on sank off the coast of Rhode Island.
The two individuals, both from Warwick, Rhode Island, were identified as 62-year-old Robert Puchta and 66-year-old Luann Cole, according to a statement from the state Department of Environmental Management.
The department’s law enforcement division is investigating the fatal boating incident reported late Tuesday afternoon. The 23-foot ship took on water and sank in Greenwich Bay off Warwick, the statement said.
Puchta and Cole were found unresponsive by Marine Task Force boats and brought onto the Oakland Beach Boat Ramp, according to the statement.
“The vessel has sunken and has not been recovered,” the statement said.
