A fire in Providence damaged a multi-family home on Wednesday.
The fire happened at about 5 p.m. on Waldo Street. A resident says he believes it started on a motorcycle in the backyard of the home.
Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Jutras said the first crews arrived at the home within two minutes and were met with heavy flames coming from the rear of the home.
“We knew right away from the get-go that we had a fire that had a significant advantage ahead of the company,” said Jutras.
All the residents were able to escape the blaze without injuries. No firefighters were injured.
One resident of the home, Craig Greenslade, said he attempted to put out the fire himself before firefighters arrived.
“I looked out the back window, and you could see smoke and fire. Like, you could see it coming up the back window through the shades,” said Greenslade.
