Shane Wallerick and Zoe Mushkat were in the right place at the right time over the weekend.
The two friends were walking through the Conimicut neighborhood Sunday afternoon when a man unexpectedly ran out into the street shouting for help.
Warwick Police Chief Bradford Connor told 12 News that a man and his son were moving their boat’s mast toward their house when it hit a live electrical wire.
Connor said both men were shocked unconscious; however, the son eventually came to and noticed his father wasn’t breathing.
“He came out into the street screaming,” Mushkat recalled, referring to the son. “So, we just started sprinting.”
Mushkat, who’s CPR-certified, and Wallerick wasted no time trying to save the man’s life.
“We were all ducking, trying to not get [shocked] by the boat,” Mushkat said. “There was no thinking, just doing.”
