Three people are displaced following a morning fire that happened in Providence Sunday. According to Fire Battalion Chief Edward Dwyer, the department received a call around 11 a.m. for a fire in the basement at 37 Lucy Street. Upon arrival, fire officials encountered heavy fire and established it as a code red. It was able to be extinguished quickly. Two cats were saved and given oxygen. Two firefighters suffered some hand injuries from the cats as they were trying to take them out of the basement. The Red Cross is assisting the individuals at this time. The fire is under investigation.
