North Charleston Firefighters say two westbound lanes blocked shortly before noon by a semi-tractor fire have reopened. The agency posted to its Twitter account that the two lanes near the University Boulevard exit were reopened but said crews remained on the scene and urged drivers to use caution in the area. North Charleston Deputy Fire Chief Stephanie Julazadeh said crews arrived on the scene and reported a semi-tractor with no trailer off the roadway and fully engulfed in fire. The driver was being checked for injuries, she said. The fire was one of two incidents reported in the area shortly before noon on Friday. In the second, Charleston County dispatchers confirmed the North Charleston Fire Department responded to an accident involving a vehicle that struck a tree near mile marker 205.
