On Sunday, the Burton Fire District and Beaufort County EMS responded to a three-vehicle collision that resulted in the rescue of a trapped person.
According to the Burton Fire District, the crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. at Trask Parkway and Parker Drive. Authorities say a man was trapped inside his pickup truck. Firefighters rescued him, while Burton and Beaufort County EMS paramedics and EMTs treated the injured. We're told three people were transported from the scene, and all appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities say this is the second motor vehicle collision this month in which Burton firefighters had to rescue a trapped occupant, and the third this year. Burton fire officials state that not only are motor vehicle collisions up from this same time period last year, but so are the number of injuries resulting from those collisions.
