A woods fire Wednesday afternoon on Abbott Road in Darlington County burned 16 acres, according to Darlington County Fire District Chief (DCFD) Rickey Flowers.
Flowers said the fire from a controlled or prescribed burn that jumped the fire break. “There were no injures to personnel or damage to any structures. DCFD responded with 2 engines,1 tanker,1 brush truck and 9 personal,” said Flowers. He added the South Carolina Forestry Commission responded to help get the fire contained and under control.
