New firework regulations are making their way to Horry County.
Along the Grand Strand, different municipalities, cities and towns have their own firework ordinances.
Now, Horry County is firing off some of its own rules.
"Just because it's a beach, doesn't mean you can fire off fireworks all night long," said Horry County Councilman Bill Howard. Horry County Council has passed the first reading for firework regulations along unincorporated parts of the county along the coast.
Councilman Howard said the push for these changes is based on a few reasons.
"We try and keep the beaches clean, but it's not only that," Howard explained. "It could start fires. If it lands on a roof it'll burn the house down, it'll burn a school down, it'll burn. There's been a lot of fires and a lot of injuries because of fireworks."
