More than two dozen first responders at Horry County Fire Rescue are moving up in their respective careers following a promotional ceremony Thursday night.
25 captains and lieutenants took the next step in their careers, looking to make a difference in their communities.
The ceremony was held at the Horry County Museum. The newly promoted members will be given positions of leadership throughout the county.
Captain John Furr, formerly a lieutenant, works in the Safety Division for HCFR. He also talked about what dozens of members of the department getting promoted means to the community.
"Progress our department in a positive light and help keep us safe in the streets while we are out there doing our jobs," he said. "I'm super excited ready to hit the road and get out there and talk to crews."
Furr said he is looking forward to the next chapter of his career at HCFR.
