An 82-year-old man died Thursday morning after being pulled from his burning home in Knoxville earlier this week, authorities said.
Knoxville Fire Department crews responded to 433 Quincy Ave. after neighbors reported seeing flames early Monday morning.
Firefighters found Charles Dawson Schultz in the hallway, unconscious and overcome by smoke.
Schultz was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center before being transferred to Vanderbilt Burn Center in Nashville, where he died.
Investigators determined the fire started near a ceiling light on the front porch, according to a news release from the fire department.
