The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a house fire on Jones Street Tuesday morning. It happened around 2 a.m. According to a release, firefighters reported heavy black smoke coming from the home on Jones Street.Crews had the fire under control is less than 20 minutes. CFD says two people were inside when the fire started. They made it out safely. According to CFD officials the outside of the home is in good shape, but the inside suffered extensive damage. The American Red Cross is helping the residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
