Firefighters in Rhea County worked to put out a fire at the Evensville United Methodist Church on Saturday. A post from Rhea County Rescue Squad Dayton 600 says the fire broke out on Evensville Mountain Road a little after lunch. Dayton Rescue's Engine and members responded, along with several other Rhea County Fire Districts. First reports were of smoke from all attic vents. The Rescue Squad says "Due to the fast 911 call and quick response from multiple units, the fire damage was limited to a hallway and one large classroom. Other parts of the structure did receive water damage but that was limited. Members also assisted with covering items with tarps and shoveling/sweeping ceiling tiles, insulation, etc out of the church."
