Jackson police and fire officials are investigating a Wednesday morning fire after finding deceased victim in a burning apartment.
The Jackson Fire Department and police responded to the fire at 1160 Hollywood Drive at around 5:30 a.m., according to a Jackson Police Department news release.
Authorities have yet to identify the victim and continue to investigate the cause of the fire. It is not yet clear whether the fire was intentional or accidental, according to the release.
The fire originated in apartment 661, according to JFD Fire Marshal Lamar Childress. The apartment suffered severe fire damage, and surrounding units suffered smoke damage. The first floor of the complex also sustained water damage.
