The Memphis Fire Department says a firefighter was treated for exhaustion while battling one fire Monday night, a woman hurt in another, and investigators are searching for an arsonist in a third.
The first fire happened just before 8:15 p.m. Monday at a rooming house in the 1200 block of Latham Street. The fire was brought under control about 8:51 p.m. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for exhaustion and later treated and released. Investigators say the fire was caused by an overloaded outlet in a bedroom. Total damage is estimated at about $60,000.
A second fire happened just before 11:30 p.m. Monday at a vacant house in the 600 block of N. Manassas Street. It took just over 10 minutes to bring the fire under control. No one was hurt, but investigators say the fire was intentionally set in the living room.
