A house on E. 36th Street sits empty, almost two weeks after it caught fire. Four people were taken to the hospital, including a father and three children. The father and two of his children were already out of the house when first responders arrived, but a three-year-old was still inside. Neighbor Robert Austin watched efforts by two men who tried to save those inside. One of the men banged a rock against the window. "Finally got the dad to open the window and he fell out, and he was carrying a little baby, about a month or so old," said Austin. Another man jumped through a window to get in the home. "That man made one step on that window sill and then was in that house. He grabbed a little baby, a blonde-headed baby and put him outside," said Austin. The toddler was initially rescued by first responders but passed away a week later.
