Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Department was recently awarded a $5,500 grant from Enbridge. Enbridge’s Safe Community Grant started in 2002 specifically for first responders providing safety along the company’s project corridor rights-of-way. The Safe Community program awards grants of up to $7,500 for safety equipment, professional training, or safety education programs to organizations invited to apply, including fire departments, emergency medical and rescue services, emergency management organizations, 911 centers, ambulance services and law enforcement organizations. This grant was used by Fall Branch VFD to purchase the gas monitoring equipment in the photo. This equipment will be used to help find the source of gas leaks in community homes as well as along the pipeline right-of-way as needed. It will also help firefighters and first responders make sure that all hazardous gases are removed from homes after structure fires.
