The Maury Regional Health Care Foundation recently funded equipment for Columbia Fire & Rescue (CFR) Station No. 3 to allow first responders to provide on-scene cardiac monitoring for patients experiencing a medical emergency.
The Zoll X-series monitor is now in service at CFR Fire Station No. 3 and is the same equipment used by Maury Regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The device features 12-lead technology that enables first responders to assess the patient’s heart function, transmit information ahead of a patient’s arrival to an emergency room and mobilize a cardiac catheterization laboratory if necessary.
“During a cardiac incident, every second counts,” said Foundation Executive Director Joe Kilgore. The Foundation provided approximately $35,000 to purchase the cardiac monitor for CFR Station No. 3.
