Chattanooga firefighters make quick work of East Lake apartment fire, 2 residents taken to hospital

VIDEO: Chattanooga firefighters responded to an apartment fire near in the East Lake area on Monday evening that sent a child and one adult to a hospital. The fire was reported around 6:20 p.m. in the 3100 block of Dodds Avenue. CFD spokesperson Lindsey Rogers told Channel 3, crews were able to quickly get control of the fire, eventually working in overhaul. CFD officials originally said no one was home when the fire started and no injuries had been reported. However, officials later said that a child and an adult were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Rogers said a total of five adults and four children were left homeless due to the damage. The Red Cross will be helping those residents with temporary shelter.
