A Cumberland County home suffered extensive damage after a fire early Monday morning. County Fire Captain Braeden Adams said crews arrived to the Wildwood Lane home with heavy flames in the garage area. Adams said the fire spread to the living areas and north side of the house before containment. Adams said the owners escaped the residence without injury after being alerted by smoke alarms. Adams said the structure is still standing, but needs extensive repairs. Another fire occurred within the Crossville city limits about 30 minutes beforehand, according to City Fire Chief Chris South. South said crews arrived to an abandoned structure on East First Street fully involved and determined the scene was too dangerous to enter. South said no one was injured, but the structure was deemed a complete loss. Officials believe the flames were started by homeless individuals living there at the time of the incident.
