A barn on Cap Elsea Road in Sale Creek was destroyed by a fire Sunday afternoon, the Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management said.
At 4:45 p.m., the Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to 719 Cap Elsea Road after the homeowner reported heavy smoke coming from his barn.
Once they arrived, firefighters reported a fully-involved barn fire.
Once firefighters confirmed that no animals were inside the barn, they conducted a defensive attack and contained the fire.
The homeowner told fire officials that he placed the mower inside the barn after cutting the grass.
Half an hour later, he noticed the barn was on fire.
No injuries were reported. The cost of damages is currently undetermined.
The cause of the fire will be under investigation by the Sale Creek VFD.
