An investigation is underway after a fire Friday morning at a Houston County nursing home. Fire officials said crews put out a fire at Signature Healthcare, located on Rocky Hollow Road. The Houston County Sheriff’s Department reported between 30 to 35 residents are being evacuated from the facility to the gymnasium at Erin Elementary School. Fifteen to 20 residents are in wheelchairs and Houston County Schools are providing special buses to move the patients. Sheriff Sugg reported some emergency personnel responding to the fire required treatment, possibly for smoke inhalation. The fire was contained to the western end of building, according to the sheriff’s department and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to assist with the investigation.
