VIDEO: The Knoxville Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in West Knoxville Sunday morning. According to Tim Woods with KFD, emergency crews were dispatched to the fire at 806 Flanders Lane at around 11 a.m. Sunday. Woods said when crews arrived on the scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the attic from one end of the apartment to the other and heavy fire coming from the back of the building. Firefighters began putting out the fire while other crew members searched the building for anyone inside. Most of the fire was extinguished within 35 minutes, but Woods said wind and the amount of fire caused extensive damage to the upper floor of the building. The fire was completely extinguished by 12:15. Woods said investigators are on the scene determining a cause for the fire.
