Waco firefighters rescued two dogs Thursday evening after responding to a report of a house fire in the 3300 block of North 27th Street.
Smoke was pouring from the one-story house when the first crews arrived at around 6:35 p.m. Thursday.
Firefighters extinguished the flames in about 10 minutes and brought the two dogs to safety.
"They had got one dog out but this one was in there," says homeowner Pamela Harding who was holding her puppy.
"They found her and I'm grateful that they found her, and that no one was home," she said.
Officials say no one was in the house when the fire, which destroyed the laundry room, started.
The rest of the home sustained minor smoke damage.
The cause is under investigation.
