Sometimes it's hard enough to make it through an eight hour work day, now imagine having to work 24 straight every shift. That's a reality for Amarillo Firefighters. I spent an entire 24-hour shift with an AFD crew to see what they go through on a daily basis.
At 7:30 a.m., the 24-hours for B-shift at Amarillo's Central Fire Station officially began. Every shift makes a grocery store run every day, a slow morning means an uninterrupted trip. That's not always the case.
"If we can get through a grocery store run without getting a call I like it," Firefighter Mason Madrid said. "Sometimes we go to the grocery store like three or four times."
The first call didn't come in until 10:54 a.m.
