Jefferson High School students now have the chance to earn their EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification upon graduation, thanks to a partnership between the district and Panola College. “This is our first year of the program here at Jefferson High School and we are also doing this EMT program at Timpson High School,” Panola College EMT Instructor Ronnie Morton said on Tuesday. “These are seniors who will be 18 near the time of graduation so they can take the National Registry Test. Once they pass that test, they have to apply to the state to be able to work.” The Jefferson High School CTE (Career and Technology Education) program currently has five seniors in its first year of the program, which is a year long course.
