Firefighters from every volunteer fire department in Tom Green County have responded to a number of wildfire calls over the last few days and some of those fires are driven by winds from localized thunderstorms. VFD radio reports indicate volunteers from Wall and Christoval are currently working a wildfire on a ranch near Susan Peak Rd. in southeastern Tom Green County under a thunderstorm. Earlier this afternoon units from Pecan Creek, Christoval and Wall were dispatched to a wildfire near the intersection of FM-584 and Knickerbocker Rd. by the Twin Buttes Dam. Volunteers also responded to fire reports between Sterling City and Robert Lee and Christoval volunteers engaged a fire near the Jones Ranch in southern Tom Green County. While the Texas Forest Service is assisting area volunteers, resources are being depleted. Dove Creek Volunteers were called out late Wednesday afternoon to a possible wildfire near the Knickerbocker community on Torres Rd.
