First responders found two people dead inside a Fredericksburg apartment where a fire occurred early Sunday morning.
Firefighters and police officers were called to reports of smoke at the Ten19 Apartments on Friendship Lane at about 5:10 a.m.
On arrival, crews located the scene of the fire at an apartment on the second floor of Building 2. After firefighters had made the scene safe for entry, first responders discovered two people deceased inside the department, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. The Texas Fire Marshal’s Office was also called to the scene and is “actively investigating the crime,” the police department wrote on Facebook.
This afternoon, the department posted on Facebook again, saying the two victims had been identified and their next of kin had been notified.
