A man was arrested Tuesday morning following reports of him setting multiple fires at a senior living apartment complex in northeast Austin. Austin Fire officials say they received a call at 4:30 a.m. of a fire on the third floor of a building at the Harris Branch 55+ apartments located at 12433 Dessau Road. When units arrived, they found several fires that were controlled by the sprinkler system and quickly extinguished by the crew. AFD also called the Austin Police Department because the suspect was a resident "in his underwear" setting the fires. According to residents, the suspect has been an issue for some time. The suspect is now in custody. Fire crews worked all morning cleaning up the water as a result of the sprinklers running for a little while. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
