The 4th Annual Uintah Basin Emergency Care Conference, held at the Uintah Conference Center last weekend, offered first responders from throughout the Basin an opportunity to learn and hone skills while familiarizing themselves with how other agencies work. “It’s necessary that we train together so that we know what the different agencies’ and departments’ rules and responsibilities are,” said Tal Ehlers, emergency manager at the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office. According to Ehlers, who has been with the sheriff’s office for “almost” eight years, understanding the responsibilities of sister agencies throughout the Basin, and having an opportunity to meet professionals from other agencies, helps ensure area residents receive the best quality of service possible from emergency personnel.
