The Fire Department held their annual community breakfast Saturday at the Firehouse in Vernal.
“Gale Rasmussen, a firefighter from the Vernal department for over 30 years, passed away unexpectedly from health complications last month,” says Dale Allred, a firefighter from the same department. “Gale had the original vision for the annual fireman’s breakfast, and as a member of the department, he helped get it organized. We’ve been doing it for a number of years now. And with his passing, we thought it would be fitting to name the breakfast in his memory. It’s a tribute to his service.”
The breakfast, which has been a tradition in Vernal for more than ten years now, drew a large crowd. Between 900 and 1200 people were expected to attend. Despite the large numbers, the line moved quickly. Both firefighters and their family members staffed stations cooking and serving food at a quick pace and cheerful manner, despite the early hour.
