VIDEO: The Francis Fire burning in Fruit Heights was 20% contained and burned 365 acres as of Tuesday evening. The fire was one of several in Davis County in less than three weeks. “This year we’ve had several Wasatch Front fires,” said Jason Curry, the public information officer with the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands. With a lot of snow from the last winter and a wet spring, Curry said this is what they expected for the hotter months. “With waist-high, chest-high grasses, this is what we are going to see,” he said. They predicted wildfires in the lower elevations, which means fires in the benches. “This has been the busiest front fire season that I have seen,” Curry said. Firefighters worked Tuesday on the Francis Fire, in the air with helicopters and on the ground building fire lines.
