VIDEO: An elderly man was killed in a house fire in Salt Lake City Friday morning, according to fire officials. Neighbors reported the fire after they heard screaming and saw high flames at 1593 S. 700 E.
"I was sound asleep. We heard someone screaming," Demietri Lazarakis, a neighbor, told 2News. "The parking-lot for the four-plex is right behind my bedroom window... I told my wife, I said "Someone's in distress. I need to go find out what's up." Fire officials say it was difficult to locate the house because it's in an alley.
Ryan Mellor, the Division Chief of Salt Lake City fire, said, "This house is not listed on a regular street; it's on an alley that isn't names, but it's been here forever and that's just one of the things that's there."
