PHOTOS: A house fire started after a dresser caught fire due to a burning candle on Sunday night at 3285 Valcrest Drive in West Valley City. West Valley Battalion Chief Jed Peters said the family went to go get dinner and left the candle burning as they stepped away from the home. When the family returned they noticed the house was on fire. By the time firefighters arrived, the family had mostly put the fire out, Chief Peters said. There are no reported injuries and property damages were estimated to be $5,000. Chief Peters reminded residents of the inherent risks of candles and to make sure to use them safely.
