PHOTOS: Fire crews were out late Wednesday night battling a brush fire that lit up the sky above Confluence Family Park. The blaze burned several acres before St. George firefighters were able to put it down. Initially, crew members said nobody had been injured and there were no threatened or damaged structures. Crews responded shortly before 10 p.m. at the site, right where a prominent electric billboard sits atop a hill near Interstate 15. The cause was still undetermined, according to a firefighter at the scene, although he noted that a similar fire had been started in the same area last year. Some residents came out to see the fire, including Dakota Braun, who said the fire was visible while driving off I-15 at Bluff St. "Then we came over and saw it was by the billboard," Braun said. "It looked like a bright fog. There's a lot of dry vegetation back there — mostly wild grass fields."
