About 12 p.m., a man driving a van was westbound on I-80 about 16 miles east of Coalville in Summit County, according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Nick Street.
For an unknown reason, the driver lost control on a curve to the left and went off the right side of the road, according to Street. The van went through some fencing, down an embankment and overturned into a creek that parallels the freeway.
The driver had to be extricated from the van and was transported via a medical helicopter to the University of Utah Medical Center, but his injuries were not life-threatening, Street said. The man was not identified.
Impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash, Street added.
