Investigators in Grand County are working to determine what happened after human remains were discovered in a burned vehicle northwest of Moab.
The sheriff's office was contacted about the pickup on Wednesday. It was found approximately 30 miles northwest of Moab, Utah on BLM Road 336 in the area of Tenmile Point. The state fire marshal is assisting with the investigation, and the Moab Fire Department helped deputies remove the body from the vehicle, sheriff's officials said.
An autopsy by the Utah medical examiner will determine the individual's identity and how they died.
"Investigation is still ongoing and considered to be suspicious at this time," according to officials.
