PHOTOS: The Unified Fire Authority turned 100 years old on Sunday.
Officials shared photos on social media chronicling various moments through the fire department's history and some significant changes.
When the department first formed on Nov. 21, 1921, it was called the Salt Lake County Fire Department and led by Chief Albert Marriott, according to their website. They added that there were 29 firefighters at the time — there are now over 400 firefighters and 26 stations. "A century of service brings with it a lot of change," they said.
In 2004, their name changed to Unified Fire Authority and they became "a quasi-governmental organization."
"The one thing that still remains a constant after 100 years is our commitment and dedication to service," officials said.
