Danville: Colder months come with spike in house fires

As the weather grows colder in Danville and the forecast looks snowy, a warm home can be a comfort. It could also be why 48 percent of all home heating fires occur from December to February on average, according to the National Fire Protection Association. Heating equipment was involved in 54,030 estimated home fires in the U.S. from 2011 through 2015.
