A fire at a garage behind a home in Augusta County had firefighters working late Wednesday night into the early morning hours on Thursday. Investigators said the garage and a machine shop went up in flames along the 400 block Lake Drive in Crimora. The flames also led to some nearby trees catching fire. Sherri McCambridge lives next door and said around 11:30p.m. on Wednesday night, she heard popping sounds coming from outside. "I was sitting in the house watching my soap operas and heard a boom and thought somebody shot somebody and then heard another boom and thought it was a transformer that blew," said McCambridge. "Looked outside and saw the flames."
