A family of six, including two children, has been displaced following a fire Friday morning that destroyed the rental house in which they were living.
Multiple fire companies responded to the fire on Brock Lane, near Catalpa in Culpeper County, around 10:30 a.m. According to reports from the scene, members of the family were inside the residence when the fire started in the area of a back deck. An observant neighbor informed the family of the fire and everyone escaped without harm, including a baby.
A firefighter working to fight down the flames on scene for more than four hours reported feeling weak, with numbness in both arms Friday afternoon and was transported to the local hospital for treatment.
