Firefighters battled a Virginia Beach apartment fire and saved a resident Thursday afternoon. Crews were called to the 4600 blk of Blackfriars Court, near Sentara Therapy Center on Independence Boulevard. In a tweet, the Virginia Beach Fire Department said they needed to use a ladder to enter the home from the 2nd story balcony. The fire behind the front door was too hot. A man was pulled from the home by three firefighters and taken to a local hospital. Information about his condition has not been released. No one else was injured by the fire. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The fire was considered under control by 3:30 p.m.
