An investigation is underway, after a town home fire in the City of Alexandria left one person dead.
The fire department was called around 9 a.m. for reports of a fire on Arell Court, by the time units were on scene, all three levels of the town home were covered in flames. The fire was ultimately put out, but a person was found dead on the second floor. Saturday, officials were unsure of how the blaze began, but were investigating.
"The investigators from Alexandria Fire Department and Alexandria Police Department are going to go in, search around, they'll make call as to the determination to what occurred and we'll have more information once they determine what that is," said Larry Schultz, Asst. Fire Chief of Operations, City of Alexandria Fire Department.
