After fighting through concerned neighbors and a recommendation for denial from the Planning Commission, the Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue Services has the green light to build a new training facility off of Esa Lane.
Supervisors on Tuesday heard a petition from Fire Marshal Gerry Maiatico. He asked supervisors to approve a conditional use permit allowing the department to construct the training facility. The department has been using the land as classroom space for the last three years, he said.
Earlier this month, Maiatico participated in a work session with some of the supervisors to explain the purpose and necessity for the new training location. He also explained during that meeting, and again at Tuesday's meeting, that the department has money from state grants stashed away that is earmarked for a project such as this.
