Battalion Chief James Broglin said there were heavy fire conditions at the garage of the home in the 100 block of Fire Mile Road off Godwin Boulevard when crews arrived about 9:34 a.m. Monday. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in just under an hour. Suffolk Fire Chief Michael Barakey said a garage wall collapsed and trapped the injured firefighter, who was working between the garage and the house. The two-car garage, which was detached from the home, was a complete loss, according to a news release, and two cars were also damaged. A woman who lives at the home also suffered a minor injury and was treated and released from Sentara Obici Hospital Monday afternoon. The American Red Cross is assisting two adults who lived at the home, according to a news release.
