A fire reduced the pavilion at Small Country Campground to ashes on March 19.
The building, located adjacent to the campground’s swimming pool, was reported on fire at abut 11 p.m. Louisa County firefighters did not leave the property until about 3 a.m. on March 20, according to Brady O’Donnell, campground manager.
O’Donnell said she became aware of the fire when the power went out in her house, which is a short distance from the pavilion.
The building was used for numerous public events, recreational activities and storage.
Firefighters used water from nearby Lake Ruth Ann to handle the flames.
Jonathan Apperson, deputy chief of fire operations, said the incident’s cause is under investigation.
