A big donation is helping keep people in Fluvanna County safe.
The Lake Monticello Owners' Association Board donated $25,000 to the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Rescue (LMVFR).
"We're very fortunate here in that the fire department and rescue. Water rescue have a very excellent working relationship with Lake Monticello, all their staff, police, the highway department if you will, we work together everyday hand and hand," said Fire Chief Rich Constantino.
The fire department and rescue squad only get a portion of their budget from the county, so donations like this keep them running. Funds will go towards covering equipment, heating, lighting and other building expenses.
