Appomattox County first responders dispatched to multiple submerged vehicles, crashes

First responders in Appomattox County had a busy Thursday night and Friday morning as they were dispatched to multiple calls about crashed or submerged vehicles amid the flooding that resulted from Hurricane Zeta. According to the Concord Volunteer Fire Department, crews responded to two vehicle crashes the evening of Thursday, Oct. 29, including one rollover into an embankment on Oxford Furnace Road. In addition, the crews from Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department, Appomattox Rescue, Concord Volunteer Fire Department, and CAST (Appomattox Concord Swiftwater Team) were dispatched to Trents Mill Road at Washout Gap for a vehicle in the river on Thursday evening. However, Appomattox fire officials say all occupants were safe.
