Multiple brush fires reported along railroad tracks in Appomattox County

The Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department says first responders were called out to numerous fires along rail systems Thursday. Crews from the AVFD, Pamplin Volunteer Fire Dept, and the Concord Volunteer Fire Dept. each responded to multiple reports of brush fires and railroad tie fires Thursday. AVFD says the fires originated during maintenance along the tracks. "Our public safety dispatchers stayed extremely busy fielding these calls for service," the AVFD said. No injuries were reported.
